A Good Introduction
Hannah can eat her breakfast, brush her teeth, and even dress all by herself. Her biggest hurdle? The potty! As with most potty training experiences (mine included), Hannah and her parents need plenty of patience...and paper towels! Reality check. I had two minor issues with the book: Hannah... -
Potty-darn good
A really cute potty book. My 2 1/2 year old loves this book, and can recite it word for word. The story of Hannah's transition from diapers to underwear is told in rhyme, using the potty words "pee" and "poop".This book helped to open a LOT of dialogue about using the potty, which is great. My...

Rattled: The best seat in the house
This might be a chick thing, but I’m the sort to hear a song on the radio and call it a sign. The lyrics help me decipher the meaning, but sometimes the song has no words and is playing on a toilet.
This situation I’m about to describe is unique to this modern age and would be unimaginable to a pioneer parent trying to help junior avoid a horse hoof to the face. Yesterday, I was writing at the computer, and I heard an electronic royal flourish, like a robot prince had just entered the adjacent room. It was the most intricate of the noises I hear from my computer. Acorns roll down the roof, cats rattle the hardware on our dressers. This had to be the cats too. They’ve been known to lay on our Thomas the Train book with the sound buttons.
The flourish sounded again, and again. Alright, that’s it, I thought. You stupid cats have distracted me for the last time today. When I got to the living room, however, the Thomas book was alone. No cats anywhere near it. It was a little creepy. I was facing an unidentified menace, and scenes from horror movies played out in my head. Isn’t it always the door bell on the doll house or the siren on some kid’s fire engine that clues the mom to her impending doom?
